If you haven't had the chance to use a Palm Pre or Pixi, you've missed out on a chance to use a quality device with a lot of potential locked away in that OS. The device didn't quite meet with the sales or enthusiasm that Palm would have liked, but I don't think that all of the blame needs to go straight to Palm. Part of it has to go to the carrier they chose an exclusivity deal with, Sprint. They simply didn't build up to its release in the same way other devices had been, such as the Droid and Storm. David Coursey at PCWorld seems to agree somewhat. ... [Read More] |

Well, that's a bit embarassing: Google has had its trademark application for 'Nexus' rejected, as a small Oregon firm already owns it.
The threat to the name of the company's flagship smartphone is rather more serious than the last. In January, the estate of the author Philip K Dick challenged the Nexus name on the grounds that it was used for the androids in Dick's most famous book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, later filmed as Bladerunner. As many already know 3G service has brought with it many perks (faster speeds, multi-tasking, happy faces) and for awhile now 4G or LTE has been discussed. 2011 will more than likely be the period most of us get to experience it's speeds. Below is an interesting statement from AT&T. I can't help to wonder is all the 3G complaints AT&T received along with some (ok tons of ) pretty harsh bashing from customers has made them look at releasing LTE when and only when it can handle all the customer traffic. The iPhone users will now be complimented by numerous Android users on the AT&T... [Read More] |

The global mobile apps economy is set to be worth $17.5billion by 2012, according to an independent report commissioned by GetJar, the world’s second largest app store. Mobile app downloads across all types of handset are also expected to increase from over 7 billion downloads in 2009 to almost 50 billion in 2012 – a year on year growth rate of 92%. After rumors about the HTC Supersonic have been swirling around the Internet for a few months, it is now time for the Wall Street Journal to chime in and contribute to the hype surrounding Sprint’s first WiMAX handset. According to people “familiar with the matter,” Sprint is expected to announce the HTC Supersonic next week during a presentation by Dan Hesse at CTIA. The timing for such an announcement fits in nicely with Clearwire’s promised 1H 2010 delivery date for the first WiMAX smartphone and we certainly have seen enough spy shots and hands-on videos to whet our appetite for this Android-powered 4G smartphone.
